Accounting & Tax Audit Business Advisory Financial Planning SMSF Property Tax Commercial Property Insurance Loans & Finance

Accounting & Taxation

The compliance layer, done properly and on time. Returns and financials for individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts, partnerships and funds, plus the BAS and IAS cycle through the year.

Compliance is where most of the year's information passes through our hands, which makes it the best place to spot the things worth acting on. We flag them as we go rather than filing the return and going quiet.

Individuals

  • Income tax returns
  • Rental property schedules
  • Capital gains calculations
  • Late and prior-year returns

Businesses

  • Company, trust and partnership returns
  • Annual financial statements
  • BAS, IAS and GST
  • Payroll tax and FBT
  • Division 7A and loan accounts

Getting started

  • Structure selection
  • Company and trust setup
  • ABN, GST and PAYG registration
  • Software setup and chart of accounts

Running and growing

  • Cash flow forecasting
  • Budgets and management reporting
  • Benchmarking
  • Restructures
  • Succession and exit planning

Business Advisory

The work that changes outcomes rather than reports them. Structure, cash flow, reporting you can act on, and a scheduled conversation about whether the business is doing what you set it up to do.

Most owners do not need a monthly board pack. They need to know whether the tax bill is coming, whether the business can afford the hire, and what the exit looks like. That is where we spend the time.

Audit & Assurance

Independent audit where your entity, licence, funding agreement or constitution requires one — carried out to the standard the recipient actually needs, without turning into an open-ended engagement.

Where we audit, we do not also prepare the accounts. Independence is the whole value of the exercise, and it is the first thing a reviewer checks.

Entities

  • Statutory and special-purpose audits
  • Not-for-profits and incorporated associations
  • Companies limited by guarantee

Other engagements

  • SMSF audit coordination
  • Trust account audits
  • Grant and funding acquittals
  • Agreed-upon procedures

Financial Planning

Retirement, superannuation and investment strategy, built by advisers who can see your tax position rather than guess at it. That single fact removes most of the friction between the two disciplines.

Financial planning services are provided by Cashflow Financial Wealth Pty Ltd (ABN 63 682 944 734), Corporate Authorised Representative No. 001315689 of Gill and Co Advisory Pty Ltd (ABN 39 668 498 735, AFSL 551560). Any advice given on this website is general only.

Self-Managed Super

SMSFs give you control and hand you the obligations that come with it. We run the compliance cycle, coordinate the independent audit and keep the fund's paperwork ahead of the deadlines rather than behind them.

We will also tell you when an SMSF is the wrong answer. For a lot of balances the cost and the trustee duties outweigh the benefit, and it is cheaper to hear that before the fund exists.

Property Investment Tax

The ownership decision is made once, at purchase, and it drives the tax outcome for as long as you hold the property and again when you sell. It is worth an hour before you bid, not a discussion at year end.

We work through who should own it, how the borrowing should be arranged, what is deductible while you hold it, and what the capital gains position looks like on the way out.

Before you buy

  • Ownership structure
  • Borrowing and interest deductibility
  • Land tax exposure
  • Cash flow modelling

While you hold & when you sell

  • Negative and positive gearing
  • Depreciation schedules
  • Repairs versus capital improvements
  • Capital gains and the main residence rules

Transactions

  • GST on commercial property
  • Going concern treatment
  • Margin scheme considerations
  • Stamp duty coordination

Holding

  • Which entity should own the premises
  • Business premises inside super
  • Related-party leases on arm's-length terms
  • Capital works and depreciation

Commercial Property

Commercial property carries GST questions that residential does not, and the answers change the price you actually pay. Going concern, margin scheme and input tax credits all need settling before contracts.

For business owners buying their own premises, the entity question matters more than almost anything else in the deal — including whether the fund can hold it.

Insurance & Asset Protection

Cover sized to the risk you actually carry, and held in a structure that does not create a tax problem at the moment you need to claim. Inside super or outside it is a real decision, not a default.

For business owners it extends further — buy/sell arrangements, key person cover and making sure the business survives an event that takes one of its people out.

Personal

  • Life and TPD
  • Trauma cover
  • Income protection
  • Inside versus outside super

Business

  • Key person cover
  • Buy/sell funding
  • Business expenses cover
  • Structuring for asset protection

Personal lending

  • Home loans and refinancing
  • Investment property lending
  • Accessing equity
  • Debt recycling
  • Construction finance

Business lending

  • Commercial property finance
  • Equipment and asset finance
  • Working capital facilities
  • SMSF lending structures

Loans & Finance

Lenders want the financials your accountant prepares. When the accountant is already across them, the application is faster and the structure is right the first time — which matters most where deductibility depends on how the borrowing is split.
